For Tuesday
Please read Richard Wright's essay "The Ethics of Living Jim Crow" and Walker Percy's essay "Why I Live Where I Live." Both essays can be found on T-Square in the "Readings" folder under "Resources."
Please note that Wright grew up during a particularly brutal time and place in U.S. history--1920s and '30s Mississippi. As such, his narrative of that time uses particularly brutal language. You may feel uncomfortable as you read. That's ok--you're meant to feel that way.
For Thursday
Please read pages Part I of Percy's The Moviegoer. This is just over 60 pages (depending on your edition). I would start this earlier than the day before.
