Postmodernism/Postmodernity

On Tuesday, we'll discuss postmodernism (the artistic movement) and postmodernity (a historical period, a cultural phenomenon). You might find these notes on postmodernism from a Prof. doCarmo at Bucks University in the UK help.

Another great resource is the PoMo Page from Georgetown. In particular, take a look at the large table at the bottom of the page.

You may also find my slideshow on the topic useful. We'll discuss it in class on Tuesday.

UPDATE: It can be a bit difficult to discuss postmodern literature without discuss modernism or the movement that preceded it, realism. Check out these resources, or better yet, a handout from my colleague that I've posted to T-Square ("1102 Postmodern Handout" in READINGS).
